Samuel Leonard Burk was born in Grannis, Arkansas, on October 21, 1925, to Edgar Henry Burk and Rula Emma (Sloan) Burk. Sam moved to Monahans, Texas in 1935, where he resided until his death. He worked on and off in the oilfield until he began his career as a mail carrier in the 1980’s. Sam remained a mail carrier until he retired. He enjoyed riding his bike, reading, and visiting with his family and friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Henry Burk and Rula Emma (Sloan) Burk, as well as his younger brother, Fred Burk. He is survived by his sister, Margaret Browning of Monahans, Texas. He is also survived by three nieces, Debra Burk of Euless, Texas, Dana Hardegree of Clyde, Texas, and Diana Green and husband, Ronny, of Dublin, Texas; three great nieces, Mary Martinez and husband, Joseph, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Elizabeth Young and husband, Aaron, of Abilene, Texas, Skylar Bennie and husband Albert, of Dublin, Texas, and one great nephew, Rheagen Russell of Dublin Texas; two precious great great nephews and one beautiful great great niece.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Monahans Memorial Cemetery with Joshua Rieff officiating.
