Samuel “Chamuska” Marin of Monahans, Texas passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at his home among the presence of loved ones. He was born on July 3, 1963 to parents Naomi and Kenneth Marin.
Sam loved saying that the freedom fair held at Hill park was in honor of his birthday every year. After graduating Monahans High School he set out to work in the oil field. While living in Monahans Sam accrued a wild cast of characters along the way. In 1983, he welcomed his first daughter Kelli Marin. He also, welcomed another daughter Natalie Marin and his only son Brandon Blackwell. Between his 3 children he became a grandfather to 8 grandchildren!!
Sam knew how to have a good time, where there was never a shortage of laughter when he was around. He loved to go “wet a hook” and teach his grandkids the ‘cool’ things in life. Card games, jokes, little tricks, and of course classic rock music are just a few things he passed down the line. His first grandson, Aidan has the best playlist around thanks to his Papaw.
Sam is greeted in Heaven by his parents: Susie and Kenneth Marin, longtime girlfriend Stacie Stout, grandson Terrance Blackwell, as well as, many friends.
His memory lives on with his daughter’s Kelli Marin, Natalie Marin and son Brandon Blackwell. Brother, Antonio Marin, two sisters, Naomi Hubert and Debra Guerrero. 5 grandsons: Aidan Gavina, Braydon Blackwell, Lawson Blackwell, Rilynn Blackwell and Sabian Rojo, 3 granddaughters: Mireya Gavina, Adyleigh Blackwell and Madilyn Valenzuela along with, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
To Chamuska we say, “See ya later Mexican. Don’t forget your seatbelt and some rock ‘n roll!”
