Sandra Watts

August 14, 1948 — March 6, 2022

Sandra ‘Kay’ Keese Watts, 73, passed peacefully over to her Heavenly Home on Sunday, March 6, 2022, in Odessa, Texas, the wife of former Monahans Police Chief Dave Watts, was born in Monahans on August 14, 1948, to Ollie and Grace Keese.

She was the tenth child of thirteen children born to the family. Her family moved to Monahans during the 1940’s oil boom and returned to Junction in the 1950’s after her dad became caretaker of a large ranch outside of Junction, Texas. Kay loved the wide-open spaces and freedom at the ranch. She attended school in Junction, participating in the band drum line, and other school activities organizations, graduating in 1966. Kay returned to Monahans shortly after graduation, married and was blessed with her son Joe. After her first marriage ended, she met ‘the love of her life’ Dave Watts. They married and were blessed with heir son Coty. She went to work at the First National Bank and remained there until she and Dave retired and moved to their favorite place, Ruidoso, New Mexico.

Kay was a beautiful lady, a genuine person, her heart was all about her family, whom she dearly loved. She was always kind and thoughtful towards others. Loving to cook, she would generously share her wonderfully delicious homemade bread and cinnamon rolls with her family and friends. She was also very artistic and an avid quilter. She enjoyed numerous road trips with friends.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents: Grace and Ollie Keese, husband Dave Watts, four brothers and seven sisters.

She is survived by her sons, Joe Smith of Odessa, Texas and Coty Watts, wife, Sirena of Midland, Texas, granddaughter, Christina Watts of Brady, Texas and grandsons Baylor Watts, Landon Perkins, and Kayden Perkins of Midland, Texas, brother Tommy Keese, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Special love and thanks to Christina’s mother Erin of Brady, Texas and Niece Tangie Levrets of Flint, Texas, and all her “Special Sisters.”

A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Thursday, March 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist church, at 300 West E Street, Monahans, Texas with Pastor Jeppie Wilson officiating.
