Shirley Imogene Estes, 91 years old, joined our Lord and Savior on September 10, 2021 in Odessa, TX. Shirley was born on November 20, 1929 in Abilene, TX to Hiram Baggett and Adeline Rogers. She received her Bachelors from North Texas University and a Masters from Sul Ross University. In 1957 Shirley married Carl D. Estes Jr. and had 3 wonderful daughters. She was a dedicated Social Studies teacher at Monahans ISD for 36 years. When Shirley retired she became a full time Granny. Shirley enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, sewing, and spending time with friends and family. She also enjoyed attending all her grand kids’ recreational events. Shirley is preceded by husband Carl D. Estes Jr. and her sister Inez Ferguson. Shirley is survived by her daughters Linda Cheryl Palmer and spouse Eldon Palmer, Lisa Ann Busbee and spouse Billy Wayne Busbee, and Lana Kay Sissel and spouse Lonnie Sissel. Her grandchildren Lucas Elam and spouse Elise Elam, Landon Sissel and spouse Aimee Matta, and Lauren Sissel. Her great grandchildren Kingston Elam, Hawkins Elam, and Kamryn Sissel. The family will remember Shirley as being a dedicated mother and Granny with a strong will, loving heart, and a role model.

The family wishes the extend their deepest and sincere thanks to Home Hospice of Odessa and Nurses Kelly, Shelly, and Tyler.

The visitation will be at Harkey Funeral Home in Monahans, TX Monday September 13th, 2021 from 4-6PM. Burial will follow Tuesday September 14th, 2021 at Monahans Memorial Cemetery at 10AM. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Judes, The Odessa Humane Society, or Odessa Food Bank.
