Steven R. Nixon was born in Mare Island, CA to Curtis & Doris Nixon.

A Navy child he spent his youth growing up all over. Steve was a proud graduate of Angelo State College. He married Margarita Morón on August 3, 1969. They spent their early years together teaching in Pearsall, TX and Eagle Pass, TX. In 1974 they moved to Monahans, TX where Steve spent the next twenty-two years teaching in the Monahans-Wickett-Pyote Independent School District. During his years in Monahans, Steve was the man behind the camera documenting the achievements of his beloved Loboes. Steve was very active in the community and at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Steve gave freely of his time to any person or group that needed help. After retirement Steve volunteered his time at the Ward County Archives. Steve & Margaret moved to Frisco, TX in 2007. Steve passed away peacefully on September 17, 2018 at Stonemere Rehabilitation Center in Frisco.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Margaret; sons Michael (Lisa) of Bay City, TX and Robert (Jamie) of Frisco; grandchildren Marisa & Madison of Bay City and Rebecca & Henry of Frisco. Steve is also survived by his brother Michael (Martha Nell) of Valera, TX. Steve also leaves numerous extended family, friends and former students to cherish his memory.

A rosary will be recited at Harkey Funeral Home in Monahans on Thursday, September 20th at 6:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Monahans on Friday, September 21st at 10:00am with Father Allan Alaka officiating. Burial will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be, Joe Montez, Jesus Suarez, David Ponder Jr., Ivan Sandlin, Ivy Valenzuela, and Henry Nixon.
