Tony Aguilar Talavera, 59, of Monahans, Texas gained his angel wings on Monday, June 26, 2023.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Harkey Funeral Home and on Thursday, July 6, 2023, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM at Harkey Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 7, 2023, at St. John the Apostle and Evangelist Catholic Church with burial to follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
Tony was born on October 25, 1963, in Monahans, Texas to Mr. Alberto F. and Juliana Aguilar Talavera. Tony graduated from Monahans High School in 1981. He attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas where he received his Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering Technology in 1991. He also earned numerous Associate Degrees from Odessa College, spanning from 1983 to 2004. He was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
Tony enjoyed many things in life. He was kind to everyone and always made friends wherever he went. He enjoyed his daily Dairy Queen visits and spending time with his friends and the employees that worked there. He enjoyed telling jokes and could make anyone laugh. His smile and humor were contagious and could brighten anyone’s day. His faith and love for the Lord never wavered. He was a natural artist who enjoyed drawing comic book heroes, portraits, and landscapes. He took up cooking during his spare time and enjoyed making treats and meals for all that visited his home. He loved his family dearly and was willing to lend a hand wherever he was able to. He enjoyed carpentry alongside his father. He will be missed by everyone he crossed paths with through life and all that he loved and cherished.
Tony is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Secundina and Secundino Aguilar, paternal grandparents, Juan and Enriqueta Talavera. And his aunt, Angela Aguilar Rodriguez.
Tony is survived by his parents, Juliana and Alberto F. Talavera Sr., and brothers, Alberto Talavera Jr, Luis Angel Talavera (and wife Juanita Talavera and their sons Joshua and Brandon Talavera), Raul Talavera (and wife Rosemary Talavera and their daughter Breana Talavera) and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be as follows; Luis Talavera, Alberto Talavera Jr., Raul Talavera, Alejandro Najar, Alvino Talavera, Joshua Talavera, Israel Talavera, Randy Santiago and Greg Garcia.
