Vernice Wheeler

Vernice Smith Wheeler, 92, formerly of Monahans, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at her residence in Dallas. She was born November 6, 1922 in Hale County, TX to William B. and Eleanor (Cook) Smith.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Wheeler; 3 brothers; and 1 sister.

Vernice is survived by her daughters, Jan Wheeler Carter and husband Mike, and Kathy Wheeler Wright and husband Matt, all of Dallas; 1 grandchild, Nichole Eleanor Carter of Keller; 3 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dog, Allie, who was her constant companion.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 6 - 8 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, July 13, 2015 at 1 PM at the chapel of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Bratcher officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mike Carter, Matt Wright, Edward Smith, Donnie Smith, Steve Wadsworth, and Tommy McLain will serve as pallbearers. Branden Perez will be an honorary pallbearer.
