William Burke

William Henry Burke, Jr, beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the age of 92. Bill was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on May 12, 1930, and lived a full and happy life. Throughout his life, Bill had a passion for hunting, fishing, the Monahans Loboes, and the Texas Tech Red Raiders. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Monahans, the Masonic Lodge and the Lions Club. He was a 60+ year member of all 3.
Bill was married to Sarah Clair Bryan for an impressive 70 years. Together they raised 2 children, Sherrie and Terrie, and built a loving and supportive family. Bill was blessed with 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great- great- grandchild.
In 1969, Bill brought his family from Macon, Georgia to Monahans, Tx., where he owned and operated Burke Welding Supply and Tool Co, Inc. Before handing the reins over to his daughter and son in law in 1993. He remained a Monahans resident until he moved to Lubbock, Tx in July 2022.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 70 years. Sarah Clair Burke of Lubbock, Tx. His daughter Terrie Lindley of Lubbock, Tx and son in law Lowell McDaniel of Monahans, Tx. Grandchildren include Brandee McDaniel (Sha Barnes) of Monahans, Tx, Bryan (Mandy) McDaniel of Melissa, Tx, Jason (Bailey) Lindley of Ropesville, Tx, Cody Lindley of Dallas, Tx and Sarah Hester of Lubbock, Tx. Great grandchildren include Allyson McDaniel (Daniel Cervantes) of Shawnee, Ok,  Ava Barnes, Laykin and Blayne McDaniel, Kylor, Hudson and Kam Hester, Ethan, Cameron, Owen and Hayden Lindley. Great great grandchild Luke Cervantes.
Waiting at the gates of Heaven were his parents, William Henry and Mary Frances Burke, sisters Mable Terry, Mary Low, and Allie Mae Simpkins, daughter Sherrie McDaniel and son in law, Robert Lindley.
The viewing is set for Thursday, May 18th from 5:00-8:00 at Harkey Funeral Home. Services will be at First Baptist Church Monahans on May 19th at 10:00 am with graveside following
