William “Bill” Louis Wilkinson, 82, of Grandfalls, Texas passed away on June 10, 2020 in Andrews, Texas.
Bill was born in San Angelo, Texas to Jack and Leola Wilkinson on February 25, 1938. He grew up in Christoval, Texas where he played high school football as well as tennis. Bill went on to serve in the United States Army from January 1961 to January 1963, after he moved to Orla, Texas where he received a good conduct medal and worked in the oil industry along with, being a rancher for 53 years. Bill married Linda Sorrels and had two children. In 2012 Bill moved to Grandfalls, Texas to be closer to family and his son Jacky who was his best friend. He is known for being an avid fisherman, hunter and all-around outdoorsman, tagging out his last Elk at the age of 80. Bill was well known at all the local libraries. He had a love for reading old western novels. The library had grown so fond of Bill that they would save a stack of books for him to check out when he returned.
Bill is survived by his Son; Jacky Wilkinson and wife Leah, Daughter; Kimberly Lewis and husband George. Grandchildren, Jimmy Wilkinson and wife Kimberly, Brittany Wilkinson, Mason Wilkinson, Trever Wilkinson, 4 Great-Grandchildren; Grayson, Kaisley, Jenna, and Albany, brother; Jack Wilkinson and wife Melba, sister; Jan Chandler and husband Zane, numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Wilkinson, Mason Wilkinson, Trever Wilkinson, Ross Wilkinson, William Wilkinson and Chuck Kline
In lieu of flowers please memorials may be directed to Grandfalls Public Library and the Ward County Library.
