Zeferino Torres, 84, of Monahans, passed away surrounded by his loving family, on April 3, 2025, in Odessa, Texas.
Zeferino was born in Presidio, Texas to Gustavo Torres and Conrada Gonzales Torres on September 23,1940. He was a dedicated husband of 61 years to his wife Sylvia Aguirre Torres.
He grew up in Marfa, TX where he began his career in ranching. In his later years he drove and retired from Brantley Trucking.
Zeferino is preceded in death by his mother and father; two sisters, Dolores Morales and Margarita Navarro; brother, Gustavo Torres; sister, Christina Heredia; his in-laws, Concepcion and Alicia Moreno Aguirre.
Zeferino is survived by his wife, Sylvia Torres; son, Richard Torres; daughter, Mary Huey and spouse, Gary Huey of Monahans; son, Angel Torres and spouse, Michelle Torres of Hobbs, NM; son, Abel Torres and spouse, Cherry Torres of Marfa, TX; sister, Dora Venegas of El Paso, TX; sister, Manuela Carnero and spouse, Santana Carnero of Monahans, TX; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Victor Tarin, Juan Jacquez, Nicholas Garcia, David Torres, Nathaniel Torres, and Joshua Huey.
Visitation will be held on April 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM at Harkey Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM with Father Joe Raj of St. John’s Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
